NO one 'chooses' the streets, ok maybe 1 out of 100.... but shelters are often full esp in winter, they also have strict rules which are hard for some to follow, there is also a lot of crime and theft in shelters.
I used to take the subway home from the stop under trumps building and one night there was an old woman with no shoes or socks sleeping on the bench...we bought her some shoes and socks.. meanwhile 50 ft or so over her head was a whole building full of people with more money than can spend in a lifetime... its sick... its unregulated capitalism
There is NO excuse for it in this nation, but there is a cause, too many very greedy people with too much money. This problem did not exist for the most part when the tax rate on the super wealthy was 70+%..... That is not a coincidence and you can thank Newt the Gingrich for it. .
