The IRS is one of the few organizations so oversized and bloated with do-nothing "work from homes," that they can spend $2 million of taxpayer money to go after $200,000 in back taxes.
So I'd say less powerful. We need to simplify the tax code, get rid of complex loopholes and cut bureaucracy.

That is an excellent point, and I even thought that the IRS has became more powerful than our government that at this point it might as well become a government itself, but we cannot allow that to happen.

I want it gone but that'll probably not happen

The IRS to me seems like it's the stomach of America, which sounds logical because it's money hungry. Now, I'm not saying that I hate this country, it's just that people need to open their eyes.

I don't think the IRS should even exist. And yes, they definitely need to have their power curtailed.
