An amputation costs maybe a few tens of dollars, but they might charge hundreds. Its all a scam to make money. Because keep in mind, how would hospitals get money if everything was free? It would need to be funded by the government. How does the government get the money? Through taxes. So free healthcare means higher taxes. So that's not ideal either. The best system would be for healthcare to not be free, but still have reasonable prices.
