Sayori: So, what happened on September 4, 2019?
Mii Gunner: It all started when Banjo and Kazooie finally arrived in Smash. It was also the day that Sans costumes were being provided to Mii Gunners like myself. When everyone found out about the costume, all most of them wanted was to see me in the costume. Beforehand I had initially planned to just wear the costume for fun, but now, a decent portion wanted me to wear the costume and therefore be able to treat me like the real Sans. It was as if my identity was being stripped from me. It got stressful attempting to act like the real Sans, and even Banjo himself wasn’t too happy about it. I mean, he literally joined Smash on that same day, and fighters were so focused on my new Sans costume that they refused to acknowledge Banjo’s existence for the first couple of weeks of him joining Smash the same way they ignored my true identity and continued to treat me like the real deal. Mii Brawler and Mii Swordfighter were among the sensible fighters who acknowledged me as a person, but it wasn’t like they could do anything about it either
Sayori: Wow. Sounds pretty sickening if you ask me
Mii Gunner: But it did not stop there. On January 28, 2020, Byleth joined Smash. Coincidentally enough, that was also the day when Cuphead costumes were starting to be provided to Mii Gunners, similar to the Sans costumes from September 2019. From there, I had the Sans costume episode yet again, but it was with the Cuphead costumes that time around. Byleth wasn’t as disappointed with her outcome as Banjo was, but it was still disappointing to her
Sayori: Did they eventually stop treating you like someone you weren’t?
Mii Gunner: Fortunately, yes. The false identity drama eventually ended itself on February 29, 2020
Sayori: That’s good to know. If I was there during both times I would’ve just worn the costumes for you so that you could continue on with your day as yourself
Mii Gunner: Well, just be thankful that you didn’t have to go through what I had to go through. Thanks anyway, though
