Kashiko, in the middle of a conversation: So you wanna hear Sephiroth’s excuse for joining Smash and befriending Sayori?
Kokoro: Sure!
Kashiko: So apparently he mainly joined Smash just so he could check on-and even torment-Cloud again but then his eyes fell on Sayori as he was trying to get to Cloud. Due to this, he only tormented Cloud for a few weeks before focusing his attention on Sayori. For the first couple of weeks it was hard for Sephiroth to even attempt to talk to Sayori, as Sayori was aware that it was Sephiroth’s initial intention to get on Cloud’s nerves. Although I also presume that it was possible that Sayori was aware of Sephiroth going for her next, but that’s beyond the main topic. Then one fine day, Sayori woke up late and walked to the cafeteria to get breakfast. When she arrived, Sephiroth was the only other fighter sitting in the cafeteria, despite the fact that he had already eaten his breakfast. And upon seeing him, Sayori’s first instinct was to run up to him and physically attack him. But as she got closer, she started to hear Sephiroth murmur to himself about how much he cared about Sayori as well as the other things he has experienced. With that, Sayori stopped running, got down on the floor, and burst into tears. All she could do was call out a faint “Sephiroth…” while tears were still streaming from her face. Sephiroth turned around, saw Sayori, and felt embarrassed, but he decided not to run as this was his opportunity to talk things out with Sayori and finally be on good terms with her. He asked Sayori to take him to her dorm so that they could talk it out in private in case the other fighters came back to the cafeteria to grab lunch soon after. And so, they talked things out, and Sayori eventually forgave him, and soon enough, they became besties
