The good news is that it's a recombinant mix of the two main omicron strains. That suggests (but doesn't ensure) that it's less fatal than the pre-omicron variants. It also only has a 10% advantage over BA2. It's definitely not a good thing, but it's about a good as possible given the facts in the title of the article. More time wi be needed to strengthen assessments of transmissibility and virulence.
