The only reason tails uses a plane instead of his tails is because he is the only sonic character in the whole of the sonic franchise to get tired. After using his tails to fly in 15 seconds, he gets tired.
But that says that Tails his best. Even, in sonic 2/3/mania you can turn into super tails buy using bigger chaos emeralds but knuckles and sonic use the normal ones because tails isnt strong enough. He is just a kid but he tires himself to the limit so that he can be on the sam lavel as sonic.
In conclusion, i think tails should be noticed by the fandom. Everyone doesn't like tails because they think he is just a child but tails acualy tries and tries. So yes. tails should be popular like others.
