In the year 1988 at the University of the Deaf; Gallaudet University, a University election was in progress as there were 3 people running for University president, 2 of which were deaf and one was hearing, the hearing president had won, and at a school board conversation, the hearing president had said that deaf people can't function in a hearing world. this of which caused an outrage as the students planned a protest in Gallaudet University, The protest began on march seventh as deaf students took Gallaudet University, they used heavy-duty bike locks to lock the front doors and used hot-wired busses that had no air in the tires to block the front door as the students had four demands (shown in the image) the students had taken the school and kept it until they got what they wanted and which they did, the hearing president was impeached from University president and the major deaf president had taken the spot of the hearing president. this protest is now known as DPN
