I assume you're Republican leaning - based on your unquestioning parroting of their talking points -
yet have never once ever conducted any research into any SCOTUS nominee nor why - religiously or politically - they were ever nominated.
ACB was fast tracked by the GOP - without ever possessing much judicial experience - due solely to her religious beliefs on abortion; Clarence Thomas got elevated because the GOP sought to replace his retiring predecessor with another black man in order to gain future black votes; Scalia gained because the GOP sought to win over Italian ancestry voters in the next election, etc, etc, etc.
Don't pretend there hasn't been a political and/or ideological motivation behind every single SCOTUS nominee by either party for decades. In KBJ's case - unlike those of her predecessors - she possesses the broadest and deepest framework of prior judicial knowledge and experience to better evaluate cases based on their actual merits rather than ideology alone. Apparently, that something that scares the hell out of GOP leaders.
