when i got mine I bought just the camera ( no lens ) $200 then I bought the kit lens $150 then I bought the 70 mm lens $250.

First off look at the web address you posted, and the one I posted.
Its my opinion that something is up with that. I just don't see how it could be?

If I bought the camera, which lens would you suggest I buy?

Don't worry about being annoying with me I'm always happy to answer any questions I can.
I think the best all around lens is the 70mm auto focus I just leave it on. its a zoom lens but you can still take close ups you just have to stand back about 4 or 5 feet.
the kit lens that generally comes with them works very well also but with limited zoom capability's. if you get the kit lens you will want the 70mm later like I did, but its best to have both.

I bought mine here ( https://www.keh.com ) They buy sell and trade used camera equipment. I noticed they have one like mine here ( https://www.keh.com/shop/nikon-d3400-digital-slr-camera-body-black-24-2-m-p.html ) I would recommend the 70x300 mm auto focus lens. you can buy the camera body online but when you get the lens give them a call so they can make sure you get the right one for the camera they are very friendly and helpful. Mine was just like new for about half the price!

By the way just in case you need a computer or laptop to deal with and store these photos.

Yea go ahead and bid on it you never know. if it gets above what you want to spend then just drop out. to be honest i don't know how these auctions work I've only bought stuff there outright.

You should see some of the flocks of blackbirds I see, some of the larger ones have thousands of them.

Oh Yeah We have them here too. right now they are coming back from the winter pretty cool!
