Oh hell no :-(
In my country, anti-longish hair laws mostly apply only to pre-college schools and jobs that are not creativity-based. Muslim universities apply that law as well.
I attended at non-muslim university which means there is no strict rules about hairstyles. But alas, each time my hair reached my ear, always my father, mother, and sister asked me to cut my hair. I looked cool in that way. But why they don't give me even a single tiny piece of hairstyle freedom? >:-(
I really wanted to say that us, the Indonesians upholding freedom. If there's a conflict just because of someone having a longish hair (usually men), you can question a hairstyle freedom in my country.
So what i know about longish hairstyle is one of an expression freedom. There's a rocker/artist with a longish hair to make him look cool and badass. One of my (male) friend has a longish hair. He looked cool. I am sure that his parents allowed him to have that hair. Me having a longish hair? At least some of my friends said that it looks good to me. Looks more suitable to me than short hair. To my friends, i looked handsome with that hair. But to my family, i looked ugly.
Is longish hair equals to ugly? I do not think so. But alas, not few of Indonesians said that they don't like men with longish hair. I am really disappointed on this.
BTW, you can try to search about the history of anti-longish hair laws in Indonesia. And FYI, in Indonesia, men with longish hair called "gondrong". You can try to search about that in internet.
Anyway, can you tell me why gondrong is not allowed in your country?
