Metric is easier to do math with, I'd say switch.
also it's interesting how much we use the metric for stuff like gun calibers

we should switch to metric it is annoying as hell when doing anything science-related in the US.
It would cost a lot of money to switch all the road signs and stuff like that but it would be worth it.

imperial has caused some complications in the past, including the loss of millions of dollars because of space mission failures due to miscomunication of the units in which the thrust/fuel load/weightload etc was measured in.

metric is also easier to deal with, because it is in units of ten, which is by far like the most wholesome number in terms of division and multiplication.

as well as that, it was also put into use as a way of confusing our enemies and separating ourselfs from other countries. we dont need to do that anymore, so why keep it?

all this being said i think we should switch. but that would also cause some complications:

-we would have to recode everything in the US that uses imperial
-we would have to repaint ever mph sign in the country
-we would have to redesign our cars
-we would have to relearn an entire new way of measuring things, which will be hard considering the imperial system has been engraved in our brains for so long

just some things to think about :)

It's not going to happen. And I don't want to. I think it's best to keep with what the country already uses, because to switch would be too confusing.

May I ask why a switch would be so confusing?

People have lived their entire lives using Imperial. It wouldn't make sense to make them learn to use metric. It'd make everything harder.

The thing is is that Metric is very easy to learn. You take a single unit, and you divide or multiply it by 10 to get the next unit.

Agreed. We would all need to go back to school to properly learn metric, regardless of how easy it may seem.

That is the exact same argument that was used in the UK and in Canada, but the confusion between metric and imperial might have killed people, as drug overdoses due to labels being in metric are disturbingly common. Don't forget the fact that international companies have to make products both for the US and the rest of the world. It would make communication between scientists and immigrants to normal Americans much easier
