M4 Shermans are great
why don't you like them? Just curious

Because America used them for fighting tanks when they were meant to support infantry. Russian tanks were better at fighting tanks. America just needed to fix that doctrine before ww2.

What about the Shermans with the 76mm or the 17 pounder?

those were the m4 variants not the original which are what im talking about

Ah, that's fair I suppose, but that depends what year you're talking about. Early in the war in the Africa campaign Shermans were really good for tank to tank combat, but by 1944 when there were panthers, tigers, etc. they would've struggled more, although most tanks they encountered (StuG or Pz IV) would've been a relatively equal match.

im talking about more of the later years when the military insisted on using shermans when they were pretty much useless in tank to tank combat
