Like non-diagetic sound, what I like to explain that as that it's audio that the characters can hear which makes it part of the scene, part of the character's reality.
Like if you would be a character in a film and someone was watching you.
For example "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley is playing. Where is coming from, well picture the scene of being inside a car and the radio is playing. That would be non-diagetic sound.
But this isn't a discussion about that.
