Metric is easier for children to learn.
Imperial is generally a finer and therefore more accurate measurement.
If you're not completely dim, you will have no trouble learning the Imperial system

I am a european and I learned that even the US goes metric in sience fields, such as NASA. Also, american students are taught metric units in math and sience classes but still use imperial ones in daily life.
