Encroaching NATO

NATO is a defensive pact. Defensive pacts do not encroach by definition.

NATO was established to combat Soviet Union. Its purpose had already been served after Soviet Union has been abolish. NATO has still been taking in countries in the last several years even after Soviet Union was abolish.

1999 Poland, Hungary, Poland
2004 Bulgari, Romania

And there are many other countries, but these prime ones have been centered around the old Warsaw Pact.

If Ukraine joins NATO it will further encroach along Russia's borders leaving them little to defend themselves should the West pose a threat to them in the future.

If Russia takes Ukraine it will solidify a strong defensive front against NATO.

But I guess those countries already joining and closing in on Russia's borders/expanding isn't considered Encroaching.

Which is basically pushing established aligned NATO further East.

If Ukraine becomes part of NATO it would again leave Russia further open and in a compromising defensive position as it puts Volgograd in a dangerous position. If it is taken, that will cut off Russia's valuable oil and gas resources.

NATO was a DEFENSIVE PACT established to combat the Soviet Union. I can understand why you wanted to leave out that part because it knocks down your "encroachment" narrative but if Ukraine wanted to join a defensive pact, it's probably because they were worried that something like, I don't know, EXACTLY THIS POSSIBILITY might happen!!!!!!!!!

How about in 1990 of the promise made between NATO and former Soviet Union, the pledge to not expand after the dissolvement of the Warsaw Pact? The same Warsaw Pact that later became a part of NATO as mentioned in the 1999 years. I guess pledges are fine and dandy to be broken, even if spoken publicly by NATO's secretary general in a speech in May 17, 1990 in Brussels.

All is fair if it is written down apparently in a treaty. FYI it was NATO that betrayed Russia first with its continuous expansion past East Germany after they went back on their spoken verbal promises and their actions are part of the reason due to Ukraine's current situation as again, Ukraine is a liability as a Neutral power.

If you are going to keep deflecting that it isn't encroaching by taking people into its Alliance moving past East Germany, then I am not going to debate anymore on this.
