I’ll give an example

Good: Character has the ability to end the universe and break reality, but uses toned down versions of his powers, the creator lets them take hits, and he isn’t godly durable.

Bad: “OMG HOW DARE YOU INSULT ME!!!!!! *Gives the slightest poke at my cock and balls, ending the universe.*” or “*dodges*” constantly. Probably a mix of the two.

For me it’s something like this.

Whenever I’d make a powerful OC, I still give limitations. Basically the powers may take some time to recharge once used until they can use it again, mostly depending on how powerful or important the attack is.

even if I were to give them a world-ending attack it’d take a long time for the character to recharge until they can use it again.

Some people on the other hand just basically go “*takes all powers away and then shoots the galactic criminal*”, OC or not.

Other times is adding too much powers or irrational powers: has godlike strength, reads minds, can amplify power to bend time and space and become stronger then anything in the universe and galaxy. Big sword can grow 1000 ft bigger. Eyes turn red when mad, hair glows when powerup, Etc.
