THERE'S A CONCEPT THAT CAN BE ADEQUATELY EXPLAINED AS: 'AN IDEA SO STUPID THAT ONLY AN INTELLECTUAL COULD BELIEVE IT'; IT'S THE SCENARIO WHEN A PERSON WHO HAS DEVOTED THEIR EXISTENCE TO REGURGITATING INFORMATION FROM A PIECE OF PAPER THEY'VE READ ONTO ANOTHER PIECE THEY'RE BEING GRADED ON; STARTS TO BELIEVE THAT WHAT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL WORK ON PAPER WILL SOMEHOW APPLY TO PRACTICAL APPLICATION. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT PRETTY MUCH NEVER DOES AND ALMOST ALWAYS MAKES EVERYTHING WORSE, LEADING TO THE RATIONALISATION THAT THINGS WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE WITHOUT IT OR IT JUST NEEDS MORE PAPER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS.. NEITHER OF THOSE RATIONALIZATIONS ARE TRUE
