get a friend to ask his views on lgbt so you know hes not homophobic. after that get a diffrent to ask if he would ever date a guy if hes not homophobic. if he says yes shot your shot if not prepare for heartbreak

i suggest writing a note asking to meet somewhere and put it in his locker. if he shows up then confess. just prepare your heart for rejection
