The USA only does $1.3 billion in trade with Ukraine, so there's barely any US interest to be had here. The USA would surely spend more than $1.3 billion to counter any Russian invasion.
What Ukraine does have is the ultra-pure neon gas used in the manufacture of microprocessors.
Russia has the palladium used in the manufacture of microprocessors. Due to the uncertainty of the "invasion" the price of an ounce of palladium is about $2,300.00 per ounce, up roughly 75% since the US government beat the war drums.
This "war" is about making the 1% even more wealthy, by making the tech devices you purchase cost even more.
There is no national interest here. Clearly there is an interest from the tech industry.
