Story time.

Stardust was gaining even more abilities, and fast too. She accidentally caused an earthquake and found out she can manipulate the earth on the frozen moon. And the same for plants when she accidentally accelerated the growth of a malicious plant to the size of their ship on the poisonous swamp planet. Sky was not happy when the plant latched on to the ship so Stardust had to go burn the plant. Avalanche was a little concerned at the fact that Stardust didn’t seem to show too much control over her newer abilities, but she didn’t get much practice either. She eventually gained control of her newer abilities. Both incidents happened over a period of 5 days. Now in control of her new abilities, Stardust wanted to ask Sky how she can defend herself without her abilities. She didn’t even know that much about fights.

Stardust was walking back to the ship after flying across the frozen moon for several hours.

“Hey Sky… you think you could maybe teach me how to defend myself, without my abilities?”

Sky replied, “I hardly think I’m the best teacher for this, especially since you appear to be a dragon and I’m human. But you are right, I think it’s time you learned how to at least defend yourself incase you are attacked by something.”

“So, what’s the first lesson?”

“I don’t know, you stand on four legs while only stand on two. You also have claws and a barbed tail. I’m not really sure how I could teach you. I think you’ll need another one of your kind to teach you.”

Stardust had another idea. “Could you at least teach me how a human fights?”

“… I’ll do my best I guess. How well can you stand on two legs?”

“Never tried it.”

Stardust then tried to stand on two legs, she found it difficult at first but manageable.

“This is never going to work.”

“You’ll see when I become as good as you Sky, I think I can do it. It is a little awkward though.”

Standing this way, Stardust was almost as tall as Sky.

Stardust quickly learned how to stand up, walk, and run like a human, or whatever other intelligent species that walked on two legs were out there. It was a little awkward with her wings and her tail but she eventually figured it out.

“Your a quick learner,” said Sky.

“Now can I learn how to defend myself?”

“Armed or unarmed?”

“Unarmed first.”

Over the next few days, Sky taught Stardust all he knew about unarmed combat. Stardust quickly mastered all of the techniques, despite being only a few months old and being a dragon. Sky also taught we how to use several weapons, a sword and shield, war axes and hammers, and other melee weapons. Sky refused to teach Stardust how to use any long ranged weapons for now.

“You’ve made great progress, and you’ve pretty much picked up everything pretty quickly.”

“Am I doing good?”

“For a beginner, your doing amazing, I expected to be trying to teach you for years, but it’s like you already know how to use these weapons, you just needed someone to remind you how.”

“How about long ranged weapons?”

“Not now Stardust. Those can wait, I don’t think we need to learn those skills just yet. I think it’s time we go find your parents.”

“Finally! I can’t wait to meet them.”

“Their probably already worried since you’ve been gone for so long.”

Stardust, Sky, and Avalanche go back to the planet where they found Stardust. It was only one star system away. They flew around the planet several times and covered every square inch. No life forms were ever found. They decided they need to move to different systems incase she was accidentally left on the planet. Stardust will finally get to travel through the Galaxy.
