Azolla is an aquatic fern that can sequester 6 tonnes of CO2 per acre; During the Eocene it covered a 4,000,000 km2 basin and caused global cooling; At its peak it didn't sequester CO2 as fast as we're releasing it today; And we're now drilling the Arctic to access the oil and gas created by those Azolla deposits
