The reason schools teach certain subjects and not others is because school subjects can not be reliably learned elsewhere (while other skills can). For example, you can't just get a socially desirable level of knowledge of your country's history without a professional gradually teaching you in a structured environment. You can learn how to go to the bank... by going to the bank. People who like to complain about school
