I can just see the look of slow horror crawling over his face. His blood turns cold, his heart skips a beat, the cold sweats start to set in, his heart is no racing, he feels dizzy and starts looking around to sit.
It was really funny at first because this is supposed to be an exaggeration... but... God that felt bad. There are people out there who are just that uninformed.
