Freedom of speech is not freedom from ridicule. I support Kaep's right to speak, but I also support my right to call him foolish.

Ridicule like calling for him to be arrested...? That's not ridicule. I'll concede you may not have said this, but there have been much more extreme calls for "justice" against Kaepernick.

Both sides are guilty of "nut picking"; where you find the worst example of someone who holds a belief and make them the representative of all people who hold this belief.
Some good recent examples are:
You think that there might be cures to covid other than vaccines, so you must agree with the people who think drinking pee is a cure for covid, and
You belive in non traditional sexual norms, so you must agree with the people who believe that pedophilia is natural and good.
