I only watched it the other day ... A great film !
It shows how you go from a stable economy to economic disaster in a very short time

Paints almost as bad a picture as the book. The however filled me with dread of what Steinbach was saying, that i=this is just one typical story of that time.

I think Steinbeck was giving us accurate account of what life was like during the depression

I read both this book and 'Of Mice And Men' when I was at school in the 1970's
Many years later, I watched the 1992 Jon Malkovich / Gary Sinise film and it was exactly how I remembered the book !

It's nice to have a bit of a cultural discussion now and again :~)
