If you join the Thieves Guild and commit a crime, you have a chance of being able to pay off a guard with like 300 gold to make all your problems disappear
All your bounties are paid off in that region, and you walk away while getting to keep stolen goods
i think their response is somewhere along the lines of "Alright, alright. Keep quiet now, don't let the others hear. And don't let me catch you again."
