Being profitable is one goal. Providing reasonably safe and effective healthcare that is cost efficient to consumers is a different goal. These two disparate goals are neither entirely mutually exclusive nor inclusive of one another. But when we prioritize profit at all costs, as we do in America, it's possible to end up with a healthcare system that is ineffective, inefficient, and even sometimes exploitative - *even when the science behind conventional medicine is solid*. Both of these things can be true at the same time.
People who take issue with the scientific (rather than economic) aspect of our deeply flawed healthcare system tend to be the kind of grifters who want to get rich peddling their own quack cures. Or, as some people call them, "hippies who are actually Republicans".
