Yea sick, I’ve seen him a few times and got a monkey grip on my Ibanez. Was debating buying his signature but figured to wait. I got Gilbert’s and satches during g3 tho. Yea rebuilding old is nice when you can test new ideas or paint jobs. My old stuff turned into painting or swirl testers

Alright so I have the 555 then. My preference in wood is Rosewood bc my Gibson Special 22 has that wood and I love it. And idk if it’s three or five piece. And yes, great price for it

Maple on maple is my fav. Soooooo bright and poppy. Had a 80’s charvel with 1 evo humbucker. Was sooo sharp and bright, just slightly touched it and it was screaming

They just have a nice smooth feel to them, and it’s helpful if you want to learn more difficult things that are fast, like say Petrucci stuff.

Scalloped frets are filed and rounded deeper. If you look in that picture of my custom. You’ll see a scalloped malmsteen neck beside it. Makes bending easier and can press slightly harder to add vibrato or bigger bend. But you have to play lighter pressure to keep in tune.

Pigment powder paint is the easiest to use for swirling. No paint thinners or terp

Yea new picks up are awesome. Vai’s Bridge evo is stupidly good for screams and harms.
Trying out some cheap 4blade hums recently, not bad.

But any custom I make gets a 1m dimarzio pots. 1 pot powers both pick ups but also lose less tone if you accidentally touch knob while sweeping. But any builds I do vol is where tone would be to avoid all that anyways

A Vai neck is a rosewood fingerboard with a mahogany neck, and the tree of life is on there. If you look on amazing you can find the tree of life inlay stickers for cheap and put them on there, and boom, Steve Vai neck. And I’m not sure if it is a 555 or 777 but it was only $500 at guitar center

Silver or black Floyd is 555 with half neck vine. 777 is gold with full neck vine. Maple with walnut or bubinga strip. Rosewood for most new and old. Few models had ebony
