I'm glad you asked! sorry I'm late on responding, I didn't see this comment until now.

neutral is a conjoined twin. they both combined together- one twin's face on the forehead.
the bottom face physically cannot smile. if it ever did, the top face would die, and it would rot for all eternity on the other twin's forehead.

i am going to redraw them soon, so stay tuned i guess? idk lol
