Darth krayt was the son of a jedi that left the order to live a normal life. Krayt's father joined a tribe of tusken raiders and had a child with one of them. Krayt lived the life of a tusken raider (he even killed a krayt dragon) until his father was killed and a jedi took him as a padawan. He turned out to be an exceptional student.After he was knighted, he was on a mission with Obi-wan kenobi and his padawan, Anakin skywalker. When kenobi was captured, Krayt and anakin were talking, when krayt mentioned that anakin would have made a fine tuskan. Anakin, in a fit of rage, attempted to attack the jedi, and after a quick duel, anakin saw what he had done, adn was ashamed, telling krayt that tusken raiders had murdered his mother. Taking off his Tusken mask, Krayt showed Anakin that he was truly sorry, by sacrificing his place in tuskan community (showing your skin is a sign of weakness in tuskan community) the two become quick friends. Time passes and krayt leaves the order to rejoin the tuskan community. after leading many raids, one came too close to the lars homestead, where obi-wan kenobi intervened and took off krayt's mask so he would be rejected by his tribe. In a fit of rage, krayt tried to kill the jedi master but was overwhelmed and left tatooine forever. He was eventually captured by an intergalactic race of murderers called the usang vong. Now the usang vong worshiped pain, they thought it brought them closer to their gods. They experimented on krayt and replaced his left eye and arm with robotic counterparts. After escaping, he realized that his robot limbs were slowly killing him. drawing on his anger for power, Krayt became a Sith. He was only in Legends, so that might be why you don't know him.
