It's kind of a Filipino tradition. Family members can give you money on reunions and on Christmas or New Year as gifts.

The downside is that your parents can take that money.

But my sister let my dad borrow money from her, and for every day that he didn't pay her, the amount of money he owed doubles. So a few months later, her P1000 became P3000.

It’s not really bullying, more just snide remarks. On the brighter side, I only visited them once, and since we live on other ends of the world, it’s basically fine.
