Anyway, you can vote red (Republican), whilst simultaneously saying "better dead than red" (in reference to commies) sooo, colors aren't all that important

Plus the British equivalent of the Republican Party is the Tories, who are blue.

Political compasses are too easy to cheat on. No one gets a "true" reading of their political views on those things. Subconsciously, we lie to get the outcome we think makes us look good.

Maybe red pill, as in a Matrix reference

In US politics, the Left was Red and the Right was Blue, except for when the Left was Yellow and the Right was Red, or when the Undecided States were Red ..

It took a while for the "colors" to settle.
