the glass shards were not hurled at the ground, they were dropped. so they will fall at a normal speed until they hit the ground because of their randomly shaped shards have a bit of drag because of the air. in theory, because of gravity and their armor you might as well be throwing smooth rocks at the armor. now, let's not mistake a diamond for a strong material. sure, it's hard, but very, very brittle. you can scratch a symbol into a hammer with a diamond, but you can also shatter a diamond with a hammer. When RG-03Charlie dove on the diamond reinforced glass spike, not only was the diamond hit by the thick metal of the shield but also the sudden force and weight of RG-03Charlie's body, causing either the diamond glass spike to bend out of the ground sideways or just shatter everywhere.

a bit of a science lesson there, but still.
RG units 05-14 have arrived and are setting up a mounted LMG.
Tuba Knight charges at you.

*tuba knight gets between the two of you* now fellas, let's just everyone calm down and have a NICE, REGULAR, CIVIL talk with each other that definitely won't escalate into an action movie fight scene. i'm sure it was just a big misunderstanding.

*all the other guards stare at 04* oh fu

RG-03Charlie twirls his spear and brings it down on your head with a loud CRACK.
tuba knight: aaaaaand there goes negotiations.

*the spear shatters*

RG-03Charlie: *dismounts horse and gets shield out*
RG-04Delta: *locks rifle* uh boss we have a situation here
Tuba Knight: this might be a problem.

*the glass shards behind her move next to her*

RG-03Delta: this isn't going to go very well is it
*RG-26Zulu appears out of nowhere and kicks a Gurkha blade into your neck*
Tuba Knight: 26 chill OUT
RG-04Delta: holy shit that was violent

*dodged it and a shard stabs 26 in the heart* Zeta: maybe think more of a robot

*RG-26Zulu pulls it out and drops it*
damn.
*all of 26 turns to dust except his helmet*
Tuba Knight: *backs away, then stiffens into a fighting stance, shield in front, sword at the ready*
RG-04Delta: ZULU! *opens fire*
*RG-03Charlie tackles you with his shield*

*teleports out of the way allowing 03 to trip and fall while a glass shard pins him to the ground trough the chest killing him*

*the glass shard instead hits his shield, shattering*
*you get shot in the arm by RG-04C and Tuba Knight trips you, then kneeling on your chest with his sword on your face* ok ok CALM DOWN I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS

*the shard reforms and she teleports from under 04C into the sky and the shards slip into 10 pieces each raining down on them killing them all*

*most of the glass shards ricochet off of their helmets, because their size basically makes them brass umbrellas, and the rest shatter on their shoulder armor, but they still raise their shields*
[side note: glass is a shitty weapon choice. no offense.]
*Tuba knight slides on the ground to Zulu's rifle after the hail subsides and mag dumps at Zeta, one of the rounds blowing her mask off*
"WE NEED REINFORCEMENTS!"
