HOW ARE CHRISTIANS PROTECTED FROM WITCHCRAFT AND OTHER OCCULT PRACTICES? The answer involves the way God deals with the occult, at a time when demonic possession is happening in a huge way all around the world, especially to the followers of paganism. But it can happen to any non Christian who puts themselves into an altered state of consciousness. One of many Bible passages where Jesus deals with demon possession is Mark 9, where a man in the crowd addresses Jesus: "Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit [demon] that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him on the ground, he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. And I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not." In reply to his long statement, Jesus had just three words about mankind at that time: "You unbelieving generation.” Isn't that exactly like the world we're living in today, including much of the Christian Church? As far as an unbelieving generation, today most people reject the idea that demonic possession even exists. But when you do the research, it is actually happening all around the planet on a scale greater than most can imagine. Oftentimes people become demonically possessed when they get involved with the occult, and unfortunately I know about that, having been there, done that, and wish I hadn't bought the T-shirt. Other ways to risk becoming demonically possessed are through drug use, large amounts of alcohol, and especially by combining them. But the good news is that I was saved out of being multiply demon possessed by calling on the name of Jesus, and every possessed human who will follow Christ can do the same. Jesus has authority over all demons, so He can cast them out—just like we Christian followers of His can; we only need do so in His name. For those not saved, accepting Jesus as your Savior provides your only available protection from evil.
