I hate it when users are calling mods and owners snowflakes just because they're actually doing their job on disapproving the stuff for very good reasons (For instance, goes, etc.).
me trying to hit 50 followers so I can get mod
then seeing spire change the moderation rules so that I wouldn't qualify anyway

And you might want to get an owner to update that on the mod requirements post which is still in the rules (it's still labelled 50, and there's no comment about altering the mod count)
There are certain standards to be met in the streams' moderation. You have to have one year (or more) of experience, you have to have a good history(or no drama for about 2 months as far as I know), and you have to approve a certain amount of images per week/month. You can't disapprove images without a good reason, and you can't approve images containing things too NSFW(like gore and lewd things). The moderators' jobs also are to make sure anybody who is not a mod or owner is following the streams' rules. The owners do keep tabs on the moderators, and don't hesitate to take someone's moderator status if they do not follow the moderation rules.
