She has it before the powersuit, she even wears it in the power suit

What's special about the suit?

It protects her from water, protects her from more attacks, more ink and it is excellent for defending against energy weapon attacks

I mean, the Ammune gene is different, and its been around longer, you don't need a suit to do it, but the gene eliminates the use of ink, which explains why UO uses a Glock 17 and a shotgun.

Yeah but does it defend against 4 energy swords being swung at you at high speeds

The Ammune gene is very rare, only three Octolings have it, and a total of 9 Inklings have it. Of course, the Inklings are restricted for use.
(Don't use the gene for your own use.)

I guess it doesn't defend from energy or phase weapon attacks

Not one bit.
