Ah yes one of the dumbest arguments in your guy's arsenal. Simply reduce the issue to a single yes no question then ask the wrong question and you can declare yourself the winner no mater what the other person says. Let's fix this by asking the right questions:
Does the vaccine significantly reduce the odds of getting Covid: Yes
Does the vaccine significantly reduce the odds of being hospitalized if you get covid: Yes
Does the vaccine increase the chances that if you catch Covid your body's immune system will detect it and eliminate it before it has the chance to either begin showing symptoms or becoming transmittable: Yes
Does this directly result in fewer people catching Covid and thus directly result in fewer people dieing from Covid: Yes.
Are there side effects to the vaccine: Yes
Are the side effects almost identical to what you would get from catching Covid itself: Yes (but not transmittable like the virus)
Are the odds of getting a side effect roughly 3500 times lower than the same side effects from catching Covid: Yes
