because they hurt for longer and they hurt even if nothing is touching or rubbing up against them
one time I stepped on a block (the kind you use to charge stuff) and the puncture was almost deep enough to allow it to bleed, but feet have thick skin. it felt weird, but it never hurt unless I got something inside of it
if i got a laceration on my foot, it would be hard to even wear socks without my foot hurting
