So first we have the ancient builders, who I presume built villages to keep the villagers safe, who spawned with them. Then there was peace until the plague struck, the zombie virus causing the ancient builders to be reborn as zombies when they die. Soon they created igloos where they hid and searched for a cure for the virus. However, they failed and fled to the nether, where they built the nether fortresses and created nether wart and blazes out of the souls of the dead to make potions to cure the virus, the potions were only able to cure the villagers with their simple minds, not the complex human brain. So they kept experimenting, using so much soul power they killed their test subjects, creating wither skeletons. However they still couldn't find a cure, so they fled to the last place they thought was safe, the end. But they didn't know it was a one way journey and became imprisoned by the dragon, so they created the end cities and ships to fight the dragon. But there was a catch, the only food they had was the chorus fruit which causes them to teleport, teleportation leads into a pocket dimension where the endermites latch on and infect the humans, just like a parasite would. This turned the ancient builders into enderman. And that is what happened to the ancient builders and why you are completely alone in Minecraft.
