He served in the Navy as an "intelligence officer". Buttigieg served in the Afghanistan Threat Finance Cell (ATFC) as an analyst, sitting behind a computer in one of the safest areas of the theatre. The pic you posted has been taken by everyone who has ever served in the armed forces...sitting in his private dorm or in a barracks somewhere in full-battle-rattle and an M4 in his hands. That was probably the last time he had a gun in his hands.
