-try to use the atmosphere of the drawing, for example, for a bit more detailed one, use thin lines and try NOT to do chiken scratches, use confident lines. and for bit more cutesy and soft, use a thicker size.
-keep flipping the canvas (if traditional, pencil and paper, keep the paper to a light on its back.) it will help you see if the drawing looks a bit wonky
-try to keep the layers clean and organized
