The level of obsession you have with people enjoying firearms honestly amuses me. If you don't like it, that's fine, but you could probably have mastered a new hobby by now given all the time you've spent here complaining about us conservatives and how much we love our guns.

What about the level of obsession you have with firearms? Every time I post, you post. Do you have a firearm? If so, that puts your level way higher than mine. In addition, if I'm obsessed, people are not in danger from it. Not true of gun owners.

Just looking at this comment is making me laugh. Owning a firearm suddenly makes someone obsessed with them? Obsession goes far beyond merely enjoying something. Owning a firearm necessarily puts others in danger? That's far from true. I'd argue automobiles are far more dangerous to the general public than firearms, in fact.

As to whether I own firearms, my personal business is my own. As to why I always comment on your posts, it's because I'm here on this stream anyways and your memes smack of someone who has a fear of firearms and firearm culture grounded in a misunderstanding of the subject. Calling them out is worth the calorie I spend typing.

I don't like them in general but guys like the one above, and

and many others? I hope you fear them too. Or are you one of them?

"I'd argue automobiles are far more dangerous to the general public than firearms, in fact."

You'd be wrong, then.

Data from CDC:
Motor vehicle traffic deaths

Number of deaths: 37,595
Deaths per 100,000 population: 11.5

Source: National Vital Statistics System – Mortality Data (2019) via CDC WONDER
All firearm deaths

Number of deaths: 39,707
Deaths per 100,000 population: 12.1

Source: National Vital Statistics System – Mortality Data (2019) via CDC WONDER

More people die from firearms than auto accidents. Autos are used by just about everyone, all the time, and are pretty much a societal necessity. Firearms? How about calculating deaths per hour of handling an auto compared to handling a gun? I'm sure it's astronomically higher.

Argue all you want. I'm glad I bother you.

You're not bothering me. I come back here because I enjoy this.

Now, regarding the images you sent; I personally would not carry a rifle in public in 99.9% of all situations in which I ever foresee myself. Heck, even when I start carrying a handgun I'll be doing so concealed, just because that's easier for everyone. But, I am not gonna go so far as to say I'd think it's OK to prohibit people from carrying rifles or shotguns in an area because I simply think that should be a decision made at the level of whomever owns the land in question.

Regarding the stats, sure. That's a fair point. But, the counterargument there is that you included suicide in your stats. Factor out suicide deaths in each category and suddenly my claim will be a lot more compelling. Your random thingie about hours-of-use is a red herring because the relative nature of automobiles and firearms means their usage and safety is not something you can qualitatively compare by time invested.
And yes, your counterargument will be the valid, "But guns make suicide more effective!" Not wrong. But they're not the root cause of a suicide in the overwhelming majority of cases, which means that root issue lies in the realm of suicide, not firearms.
