It ain't exactly a controversy

The controversy is that cishets aren't a group discriminated against LGBTQ+ while people preach that they need "extra validation". Unless someone is actually bullying a cishet I don't care about the people who makes heterophobic jokes

Yes the lgbtq stream does not stand against heterphobia and we are speaking to those who do stand by it

I honestly think the best thing to do is too ignore it, I’ve noticed most “heterophobes” are just trolling and might not actually be “heterophobes.” I put “heterophobes” in quotations because I don’t feel like it’s a good term to use. “Heterphobia” at it’s worst is some rude comments, while homophobia at its worst can mean death. Using the word “heterophobe” is a bit like saying that straight people suffer for being straight, when we really don’t. If someone thinks all straight people are homophobic I would point out that if we where all homophobic the lgbtq community would not have rights, because straight people naturally outnumber the lgbtq community. Then leave it at that.

While the stereotype of all straight people being homophobic certainly exists, it is a minor problem, and the word “heterophobia” exaggerates it.
The thing is bullies will bully you for anything they can latch onto, and if they are part of the lgbtq community they might choose you being straight, but bullying doesn’t constitute a real world problem. If you are being bullied because you are straight you can just apply basic bully repellent tactics.
