To be honest, I think half the stream forgot about that attempt.

I remember when I ran for President. I was the frontrunner for most of the race since my opponent the_beez_kneez has unpopular censorship policies, but then Dr.Strangmeme entered the race later on and campaigned as a centrist on the free speech issue that was the dominating issue in that election. He was very popular and picked up a lot of my former supporters, so in an attempt to regain my momentum I selected who_am_i as my running-mate, but Dr.Strangmeme was still ahead of me and since we were splitting the conservative vote beez had a chance to win. So Dr.Strangmeme offered to be more pro-free speech and give me a position in his government if I dropped out, and since I had little chance of winning and might have even helped beez win, I realised this was my best option so I agreed. And looking back I still think it was worth it since Strangmeme was such a great President and I became the first ever Head of Congress.

What would have happened if you didn’t drop out? There would be a dictatorship in place, the stream would be in tatters and then maybe the entire stream would have voted WN after seeing the state of Beez’s reign just so a leftist wouldn’t get in power (was LaChancla a leftist?). Then, we all know what would have happened. WN and MoonMan would’ve been impeached and we could’ve seen Wubbzy/Kami become temporary president. While under the latter, I heard it was bad when he was temporary, but Wubb’s term probably could’ve split the Conservative vote with Envoy while Beez’s reign of terror in October would have probably chased him out the stream so Envoy would actually end as President until he deleted his account.

This is just what may have happened.

Well it's possible Dr.Strangmeme or maybe even myself might've won anyway. But I was unlikely to win and if I didn't drop out Strangmeme wouldn't have made me HOC. But yeah, I think your timeline of events is pretty accurate assuming beez did win. Anyways, It was basically a three-way race and I went from frontrunner to trailing Strangmeme and beez really fast, and even having who_am_i as my VP couldn't get the momentum going.
