You asked if anyone had ever been directly told to apologize for being white. I replied that I haven't, but I HAVE been told that my life is automatically easier (because I'm white) compared to a black person's. The only real conclusion to be drawn from that, therefore, is that I should somehow feel guilty and apologetic for having pale skin.

Like when you say "people" have been telling you your whole life, Who are these people? Is that something they say to your face? It's not a thing I ever even heard of until I started reading it on-line. I mean I see the wokeness movement which really pisses people off, but I don't see it as a threat. Black people do have social and justice issues that white people don't have. It's just a fact, it's not something you personally need to apologize for, and I would be really surprised anyone demanded one from you in real life. Basically what I'm saying is I don't believe apologizing for whiteness is actually a thing.

Can't say it's happened to me IRL, but I live in Montana (which is moderate/conservative heaven on earth). As far as online goes, I've seen people apologize for being white, people tell people they should feel bad they're white, and so on and so forth (in comments and video clips).

I agree it's mostly the fringe who spouts this craziness, as with most things in politics, but when you see it and then see that my town of Helena, which is probably 95% white/hispanic, has a black mayor (cool dude, BTW) those generalizations really irk you.

I can sort of understand that, but where does it stop? Do black people have to apologize for making white people feel sorry for being white? None of the black people I know even think like that. I feel like It's just another media trick to trigger conservatives.

Ideally we all stop discriminating on the basis of intrinsic features and treating everyone equally.

Probably a pipe dream though...
