How did an asteroid kill all of them though? Did they all gather into one spot for some reason?

It was pretty big in diameter,it caused a massive chain reaction in volcanoes and the ash flew up everywhere,covering up the sun,causing plants to die,herbivores went extinct,and carnivores got their asses starved off.
