There’s a difference there though. Emus are pests and cause a lot of damage to farmers’ fields, so I can understand the need to lower their numbers. Getting a shotgun and shooting shelter dogs for no reason other than “it might spread Covid” is downright sickening and needlessly cruel. It’s not like they were near the end of their life or they were unwanted, they were shot specifically because “it might spread Covid”.
