And then my recent calf was God Sent. He and I fed oranges to the squirrels (named one Samson). And then a storm came and lightning hit a tree he used to lay under. I thought he was dead because I hadn't seen anything move. So I ran out there and he was spooked, looked like he was going to die from panic. He had a huge burn across his back. It continued to pour. Then hail. I stayed out in the barn with him, trying to tend to his wound. He was just terrified...
Then the fair came and it was heartbreaking to leave him... I even slept with him the night before I sold him. I saw him peek around the poster to look at me as I got ready to leave. He looked confused. And I feel guilty because i know he was shipped to the slaughter right after.
