I never actually expected it to happen. But why give it to terrorists who will use it to kill people when you can give some of it to me. The most dangerous thing I would ever do with an M-16 is put holes in pieces of paper with red circles on it. Yes, I would turn the M-16 into nothing more than a hole puncher for paper.

Oh ditto. But as to why our leftists do what they do . . . while I can remember being a member of the Dem Party prior to 2008 . . . I was never actually a leftist; and so I can only offer up educated gueses as to what motivates them to do the crazy things that they do. It's one of life's great mysteries.

That is why I try to avoid the word "liberal". I have family who are liberals and they don't always march in lockstep with the leftists. They have more of a brain. Leftists are sheep. Most have no clue. Some really think they have a clue but they don't.

Yes . . . I more or less place liberals and progressives in the same category with leftists being on a different level as the chronic non-thinking followers who automatically BELIEVE anything that their leadership tells them. (Shrug) whether or not it's a particularly accurate pigeon hole, it works for me.

Originally Progressives, in the early 20th century, were all Marxists. They held large rallies (even one at Madison Square Garden) and promoted Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini and the men of the future. Then it all started to unravel for them when the NYT printed an article exposing the nightmare that Stalin was in the Soviet Union. Eventually WWII hit and Progressives went underground. They didn't resurface until the 60's.

There is an interesting book called "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg. He didn't make up that phrase. One of the early 20th century Progressives was author H.G. Wells. Wells referred to himself as a "Liberal Fascist".

Today's Progressives completely distance themselves from their support of Nazism and fascism but the still hold on to socialism and communism. No clue why because they are all essentially the same. They all have the exact same foundation, socialism or collectivism.

Back in the early 20th century there weren't very many countries who tried one of the variations of socialism. Now there are a lot and it is very easy to see the damage socialism causes.

Yes . . . and the problem with using old labels for modern times is that the people involved are mostly ignorant about the name origins. I can guarantee that the average liberal, whom sometimes adopts the alternative label of progressive, doesn't have a clue regarding the name origin. For instance while I currently use the term leftist to categorize a particular behavior set I also frequently use it to encompass everyone to the Left of Center, period; to designate a liberal, progressive. leftist, and their increasingly fascist minded double-first cousins . . . ideologically speaking.

But history is easily provable, especially in the 20th century or later. You just have to look being the Progressive history revisionism.

An ar15 would do just fine against an enemy that can't see in the dark.

I am pretty sure that the military doesn't use the AR-15. They do use M-16's which is similar to an AR-15 but has select fire. It can go from semi-automatic to fully automatic. It shoots the same round.

Yes. What I'm saying is that night vision is a bigger deal than full auto. I've fired full auto, it's inaccurate and it's difficult to control.

I'd rather own the night with a semi-auto than have the ability to send a lot of ammo downrange but have no idea what I'm shooting.

The military uses the A-4...not the M-16. It's basically a modified AR-15. The main if not the only difference is its ability to go full auto or auto burst. M-16s have been out for a long time.

I did not know that. I know at one point they used the M-16 which is also similar to the AR-15.

Having never served in any branch of the military I only know what others tell me.
